MOTOROLA DTR 650- A FCC LICENSE FREE TWO WAY RADIO
Did you know that most two way radios require an FCC license to operate? It is true, the FCC requires most users in the UHF and VHF bands to obtain a license in order to operate the equipment. There is however an option available in a FCC license free radio. The Motorola DTR650 digital radio operates in the 900Mhz license free spectrum. This model is not only license free but is also digital and has 1 to 1 private calling capabilities, not bad for a radio under the $300.00 price point. See more about it Here

Two Way Radio Batteries
Many of our customers ask the question "how long will my batteries last before I have to replace them?" The answer to this has many variables such as the type of battery you have as well as the usage of the battery. Motorola radios typically use NiCD, NiMH. Lithium Ion or Impress batteries and each of these has its own benefits. Here is a little overview of each type of battery.
1)NiCD Batteries: Designed to peform best in an enviroment where there is extreme heat or cold. These do have more of a memory effect which means you will have to replace these more often.
2)NiMH Batteries: Batteries designed for everyday radio use. These batteries are usually good for shifts that are no longer than 8-9 hours before they need recharging. These do also have a memory effect so they will need replacing more often than Lithium Ion batteries.
3)Lithium Ion Batteries: Batteries designed for longer work shifts which are usually 12-14 hours depending on the battery and usage. These batteries have little to no memory effect so they will not need replacing as often. They are also lighter weight than NiCD or NiMH batteries.
4)Impress Batteries: These batteries are the best Motorola offers and they have many benefits. They are lightweight and some models are also waterproof. Impress batteries have an 18 month warranty which is 6 months longer than any other battery made.
Motorola suggest replacing all batteries at 18 months in order to have the best performance. For an extensive selection of Motorola Two Way Batteries and Accessories head over to TalkTwoWay.com.

January 1st 2013: All licensees must convert and operate in 12.5 (narrowband). Existing dual mode (12.5/25.0) equipment must be converted over to 12.5 narrowband. Equipment operating only at 25.0 kHz must be replaced.
