FCC Narrow Banding Requirements

There is a lot of confusing information out there about the new FCC requirements for operating two way radios. Here is a little information regarding FCC requirements in 2013 for narrow banding. Please contact us at 704-597-5220 for further info.
FCC Narrowbanding What You Need To Know
Who is affected? All land mobile part 90, 25 kHz systems operating on VHF (136-174) and UHF (421-512) frequency bands.
Key dates: The FCC has set the following deadlines for licensees requiring migration to minimum 12.5 kHz efficiency systems.

January 1st 2011: Applications for new licenses or for license modifications to expand existing service areas must specify 12.5 kHz. The FCC will no longer accept two way radio applications at 25.0 kHz.

January 1st 2013: All licensees must convert and operate in 12.5 (narrowband). Existing dual mode (12.5/25.0) equipment must be converted over to 12.5 narrowband. Equipment operating only at 25.0 kHz must be replaced.
